Privacy Policy

ScrollTax is designed for private, on-device behavior change. Your personal usage data (reading sessions, steps, budget history) stays on your device. We use Sentry for crash reporting and Posthog for analytics to improve app stability and performance.

ScrollTax does not collect personal data on external servers. App data such as reading sessions, step totals, time in daylight, selected apps, and budget history is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple frameworks.

Local data is used only to calculate tax points, enforce app locks, show history, and power product features you choose to enable. ScrollTax does not use your data for ads, profiling, or resale.

With your permission, ScrollTax reads step count and time in daylight from Apple Health. This data is used solely to calculate earned points. Health data is processed on-device and is never sold or shared with data brokers, advertisers, or third-party analytics services.

ScrollTax uses Apple's Family Controls entitlement (com.apple.developer.family-controls) with Screen Time frameworks, including ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity, to apply shields/locks to apps you selected and enforce your configured budget on-device. ScrollTax does not read app content, messages, photos, browsing history, or keyboard input. Family Controls related data is not uploaded to ScrollTax-operated servers.

You control permissions at the iOS level. You can deny or revoke Health or Screen Time related access in Settings at any time. If permissions are revoked, some app features may stop working or provide reduced functionality.

ScrollTax uses Sentry for crash reporting and Posthog for product analytics. This helps us identify bugs and understand how users interact with the app. These services may collect:

• Device type, OS version, and app version
• Crash logs and stack traces
• General usage statistics (app launches, session duration)
• Anonymous interaction events (screens viewed, features used)

This data is anonymized and does not include your personal content, reading history, or health data. Data is processed by Sentry and Posthog according to their respective privacy policies. ScrollTax does not use advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.

ScrollTax does not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We do not share your on-device usage data with third parties except where required by law.

Data remains on your device until you delete it, remove the app, or clear app data through available Apple/iOS mechanisms.

If iCloud Backup is enabled on your device, app data may be included in your personal iCloud backup according to Apple's backup behavior. ScrollTax does not operate its own cloud storage for user data.

ScrollTax does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 and contains no advertising or third-party tracking.

We may update this policy to reflect product or legal changes. The updated version will be posted here with a revised effective date.
